IFE Holdings, Inc., a full service feature film studio in Manhattan is looking for a talented professional to lead the design, plan, and implementation of processes and procedures for its Insurance Division, IFE Insurance. The successful candidate will possesses the following:
• Be skilled in strategic planning and implementation
• Minimum 3 years in commercial underwriting
• Excellent customer care, verbal and written skills
• Comprehensive management skills including short and long term planning
• Evaluating, directing and motivating staff with increasing levels of responsibility, preferably in the specialty insurance field.
• Has expertise in analyzing financial information and analyzes variables, such as type & amount of coverage, loss control, credit reports, and loss experience as well as business processes
• Thorough knowledge of commercial insurance coverages, contracts & underwriting guidelines;
• Negotiating and pricing skills
• Excellent leadership, communications, and performance management skills required.
• Manages multi-projects and works within tight timeframes
• Degree preferred with a minimum of 3-5 years in insurance underwriting or 5-7 years in lieu of education.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Strategically establishes division goals and devises workplans for successful implementation and realization of company goals. Manages division and division staff. Prepares reports and devises processes for internal and external clients to expedite transactions; and continually analyzes processes for constant improvement. Exhibits exceptional customer care in insurance plans for motion pictures and assesses a company`s risk profile and determines/negotiates the appropriate pricing, coverage, terms and conditions by independently analyzing the experience and ability of the film`s producer(s).
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following functions represent the majority of the duties performed by the position, but are not meant to be all-inclusive or prevent other duties from being assigned when necessary.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (90% of Time):
• Develops Division`s strategic plan and designs and implements a workplan to achieve goals.
• Participates in the strategic planning of the company, in particular, representing the Insurance Division.
• Develops underwriting guidelines to assure motion picture coverage.
• Monitors and directs daily operations to ensure that policies and procedures are being followed, that goals and objectives are being met, and that services are being provided efficiently and effectively.
• Oversees the screening of new applicants for accuracy based on Underwriting Guidelines.
• Pro-active problem solver and takes corrective action as necessary; personally handles the most difficult, sensitive or controversial problems for the division.
• Processes cancellations, re-instatements, underwriting and insured request.
• Oversees and/or prepares correspondence to customers with explanation of change in policy premium.
• Develops and monitors the division’s budget; oversees financial well-being of the division by analyzing cost effectiveness and directing cost control activities
• Plans, organizes, administers, reviews and evaluates the work of subordinate professional, technical, office support and operational staff through subordinate levels of supervision.
• Develops systems and maintains records that provide for the proper evaluation, control and documentation of assigned activities; prepares and directs the preparation of a variety of written correspondence, reports, procedures, directives and other materials.
SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS - NON-ESSENTIAL (10% of Time):
5% 1. Assists in the preparation of the Company’s strategic planning process.
4% 2. Supervises the preparation and editing of reports.
1% 3. Assists with the development and preparation of outsourced components.
QUALIFICATIONS/SPECIFICATIONS:
Education: Requires Bachelor`s Degree in business or other related field with 3-5 years experience in insurance underwriting; a high level of customer service is a must. Experience will be accepted in lieu of education with an actual 5-7 years experience in actual retail banking.
Experience: Minimum 3 years in commercial underwriting; customer care skills; excellent verbal and written skills, comprehensive management skills including short and long term planning evaluation directing and motivating staff with increasing levels of responsibility, preferably in the specialty retail field. Has expertise in analyzing financial information and analyzes variables, such as type & amount of coverage, loss control, credit reports, and loss experience as well as business processes; thorough knowledge of commercial insurance coverages, contracts & underwriting guidelines; negotiation and pricing skills excellent leadership, communications, and performance management skills required. Manages multi-projects and works within tight timeframes.
Skills: Must have excellent analytical skills and thorough understanding of the underwriting process which are necessary to assess information and make sound decisions. Should have a customer-focused and results-oriented attitude; good interpersonal skills including being an effective listener and contributing to the overall senior management team. This requires demonstrated ability to perform multi-tasking, assessment and project management skills. Must have the ability to strategically plan moves of the division in line with the company’s goals and present recommendations to the CEO. Required to present complex ideas in a user-friendly manner both orally and in writing to persons internally and externally.
Licenses: The Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) certification preferred.
Compensation: $50,000/yr
